There is a lot of development going on around Sutton town centre at the moment. However there is more that we can do to shape our High Street if we share our thoughts on how we would like it to look rather than wait and react to developers’ plans as and when they come about. Croydon is having a £1.5bn facelift through Westfield and Hammerson, two of the world’s biggest shopping centre landlords. Kingston is changing too. Rather than competing directly, we need to have a think about what Sutton could have to offer if we had a blank sheet of paper to plan things.
