Paul Scully MP was elected as the Member of Parliament for Sutton & Cheam in May 2015. Having run his own business for the best part of twenty years he has taken a keen interest in helping to shape the local economy. Throughout Covid, Paul was the Minister for Small Business also looking after the hospitality and retail sectors. He oversaw the delivery of the grants, loans and other support for businesses across the country protecting livelihoods and jobs in the government’s £408bn support. Covid and the subsequent cost pressures on businesses has accelerated change in High Streets across the UK including Sutton. We need to recognise that and be ahead of the curve if our independent shops in Worcester Park, Cheam, Belmont and Sutton are going to survive and indeed, thrive. Paul believes that we need to take a strategic view on how we want Sutton to look in the long term rather than wait for developers to come in and shape it for us. In doing so, he is keen to get as many residents involved as possible.
Paul is currently the Minister for Tech and the Digital Economy and the Minister for London.
