High streets across the country are changing. Stiff competition from supermarkets and large chains has led to a number of small businesses sadly closing. We must do our bit to support local pubs and shops by emphasising the choice on offer just around the corner for most people.
These awards celebrate the best of what Sutton, Cheam and Worcester Park has to offer, promoting those small businesses that know the value of building relationships with customers to deliver top notch service. For the shops, it is an opportunity to showcase themselves and shine among their competitors. For pub goers it is a chance to get their local the recognition it deserves – and be in with a chance of winning £100 behind the bar. Many of these businesses have been established for generations, and have kept their loyal customers coming back time and again.
The award is supported by Paul Scully, Member of Parliament for Sutton & Cheam. Paul has nurtured a small business for over twenty years and is committed to making sure our High Streets and shopping areas thrive. Politicians have a role in keeping taxes and rates low and ensuring that there are enough car parking spaces for shoppers, but it is businesses themselves that shape the character of our High Streets that will attract people from further afield.
